Getting A SharePoint Consultant

What Sharepoint project are you considering? Are you launching some new functionality of sharepoint or are you considering integrating another solution such as EMC documentum? Whatever you need to do, you probably need a sharepoint consultant for your needs. Click here to how we can help you now.

In the article below, I will tell you the exact steps that you should go about to hire a sharepoint consultant.

Step 1:

Know your problem

What is the problem that you are facing? Have you had a meeting or a number of meetings to discuss this internally? If so, you are on the right track. Now you need to make sure that you can get everything to 1 page (if you can). Why? Well, you want the company that you’ll hire to do a good job, right? For this you need to know exactly what your requirements are and what a successful solution will look like. Don’t continue without doing this step. It’s extremely important!

Step 2:

The interview

Now you are ready to start your interview process. Select a few vendors that specialize in sharepoint and get started. Call the consulting representative at your site and ask him to bring along a head consultant or a solutions architect. To avoid multiple meetings, make sure you have most of the decision makers there when you talk to both the representatives.

Step 3:

What should you ask?

Ask about past work experience. Where have they solved this exact problem before? Ask for their opinion. According to the “one-pager” problem, what is the solution that they would recommend with sharepoint? Don’t interrupt. Ask and listen. By the way, you should not expect them to give up too much information but just see what happens.

Step 4:

Customer references

See if you can get a chance to speak to the customer references that they mentioned. Again, set up the questions and do your research prior to the call. What can you ask? Ask about any hiccups and how they were avoided in the process.
