Sharepoint is a proven resource for teams to collaborate, share documents, and create intranet sites. However, once you launch it internally. Sharepoint development can grow quite complex. Below I will be giving you a few reasons to outsource this work to a Sharepoint Consultancy.
1. Cost Savings- development internally takes a lot of time and if its done incorrectly, it takes more time and money to untangle. What a mess! Although Sharepoint is not as complex as other software tools, its necessary to have someone help that proven experience in what you are trying to accomplish.
2. Advice- This is one of the best reasons to meet with a consultant. They can give you advice on your environment. For example, you can say “my team has a bottleneck and this area and it would be great if this intranet site would link and share documents with this other site.” A consultant can then come back to you with a plan and a process to achieve the goal.
3. On-time/On-budget- This links a bit with my first point but its good to consider it once more. Consultants probably already have proven experience with the goal you’d like to accomplish. Therefore, there is no time wasted in training or trial and error. The project will likely be on-budget and on-time.
4. Details- Consultants with an outside firm are less likely to miss small but important details along the way. One of these may be security of data as the implementation/migration takes place. Your team is less likely to miss anything along the way when you have a consultant by your side.
5. Customization/ongoing support- What if something goes wrong after the implementation process is complete? Well more than likely, a consultant will be able to support your “post-implementation” issues and cusomtizations.
Bottom-line: You should at least consider meeting with a Sharepoint consulting company before you start an implementation to get their advice. Couldn’t hurt right?
